The tramway network of the Ukrainian capital (almost 3 million inhabitants) is bipartite since there isn't any connection by tram over the River Dnepr (Dnipro). Both networks together have a system length of approx. 70 kilometres. For journeys over the river buses, suburban trains or the Metro must be used. Kiev has three Metro (Underground) routes which are also almost 70 kilometres long.
Operator of the whole public transport excluding the Metro is a municipal company named
→ Kyivpastrans, the Metro is operated by
→ Kyivskyi metropoliten.
