The Kirnitzschtalbahn is an interurban tram line, which starts at the spa park in the Saxon town of Bad Schandau on the Elbe river near the Czech border. It leads 8 kilometres into the Kirnitzsch valley to the Lichtenhain waterfall. Apart from the two final stops, it runs completely on a road. Since the line is completely single-tracked, the trams run against the driving direction of the cars towards Bad Schandau. The car drivers are warned by several signs about this circumstance.
The tram route is operated by
→ OVPS (Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz mbH), which also operates numerous bus lines in the region.
